Veteran ‘s Day

God wants you. He wants us to be enlisted in His army of soldiers. Will you enlist today and become involved in the greatest conflict that will ever take place? Will you become one of His soldiers who are active in His service?

Scripture Text: 2Tim 2:1 (KJS) Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, [yet] is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evildoer, [even] unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes that they may also obtain the salvation, which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Who is a good soldier of the Lord? A Good Soldier is…

1. Strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. What is our strength in the Lord’s Army? Our strength is the Lord himself who comes to live within us.

2. Qualified to teach others. Go on the offensive. What are the orders? Mat. 28:19-20 is the great commission not the great option. What qualifies you to teach, to tell, and to show? Do you know? Have you heard? Have you seen and experienced the grace that is in Christ? Then you have been commanded to tell and to go. What soldier would not obey the command from the CO?

3. Entrusted with the message of grace. The objective is to spread the message.

4. Reliable people who will carry out the orders. Are we going out for business or are we going out of business? The devil and his armies are constantly seeking ways to take the believer out of the way. Are we doing the same? We have been given the promise that the gates of hell would not have the power to stop us. You have your orders. It is time to storm the gates of Hell and take some captives of God’s grace

5. Keeps focused on the task and doesn’t get involved in civilian affairs.

6. Wants to please the commanding officer. Obeys the rules of the game or the army

7. Endures everything for the sake of others salvation. We must endure to succeed.

8. Will receive a share of the reward. Will suffer the chains of the world
