November 11pm, 2001    What In The World Does God Want?  Deut. 10:12-22

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Holistic Stewardship: To enable our churches and their members to live a whole life as disciples of Jesus Christ by being stewards of our lives in regard to our time, talent, and treasures.

Deut 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? 14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens [is] the LORD'S thy God, the earth [also], with all that therein [is]. 15 Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, [even] you above all people, as [it is] this day. 16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked. 17 For the LORD your God [is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: 18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. 19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.21 He [is] thy praise, and he [is] thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen. 22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

What in the world does God want with me?

1.      Remember who He is.  Remember God. 14 To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. 17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty   and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing

2.  Remember what He has done. 15 Yet the LORD set his affection on your forefathers and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations, as it is today.

3.    Remember to Go with God through your life.

to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways,

to love him,

to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and

to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own   good? 16

Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. 19 And you are

to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. 8. 20

Fear the LORD your God and serve him.

Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.

"Being a Christian is a journey, not a destination."   --Bettye Huddle, quoted in Joe

There are two ways to get to the top of an oak tree.  You can climb it or you can sit on an acorn and wait.  We need to actively live the Christian life and not passively sit on our platitudes.  - Zig Ziglar

4.       Remember that He will bless you and be with you.  He wants to do you good and not harm all through your life.

21 He is your praise; he is your God,

who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes. 22 Your forefathers who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now

the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.
