June 9, 2002am   What Base are you on?   John 3

Team Sunday by Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

This is a message I preached at our second annual team Sunday.  Team Sunday is the day that we recognize and honor all of the Little League teams in the area.  All the local teams are invited, recognized, and rewarded for coming with gifts and with an indoor picnic of hot dogs and chips.

John 3:16 (KJS) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

What base are you on?

1.    Who is at First Base with the Lord?  God’s Love is at first..

2.  What is on Second Base with the Lord?   God’s gift awaits you at        second base.

3.      What is on Third Base.  It’s God’s Desire and your belief in Him that will bring you to third.  He wants you to win and He wants you to live.  You must believe.  Everyone makes it to second base with the Lord, but not many go to third and make it home.  You have to believe.  Do you believe?  What does it mean to believe?  It means that if your coach tells you something that they will do it.  If they say you are going to run laps if you don’t swing, what is going to happen if you don’t swing?  You are going to run laps.  So, what do you do?  You swing.  Nobody wants to run laps and no one wants to go to hell.  So, you go home with God.  You know that He means it when he says that you must be saved.  You know that He means it when He says I love you and I have sent my Son to die for you.  You know that He means it when He says He will save you.  Will you make it to third?  Do you believe?  Then come to third with the Lord.  Don’t just say you believe it.  You have to follow through.  Listen to the coach.  You won’t make it past second base if you don’t follow through with what you say you believe.  God followed through for you by sending Jesus.  Will you?

4.    Who comes Home?  Who are the winners in God’s game?  The winners are those who get together with the Lord.  He reaches out his hand and says come on home with me.

5.    Will You Go Home with the Lord?  Go home with the Lord today.  Let Him be your Lord and your coach.  He will never lead you the wrong way.

6.    Will you get together with the Lord and with one another?  Getting together is the name of the game.
