March 9, 2003pm     What are you Looking at?    Jeremiah 1

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

How do you see yourself?  How does God see you?

Take a different look at yourself through the eyes of the creator.

Try these optics on for size.  What do you see?

How do I see myself?  Who I am?

How do others see me?  Who do others think I am?

How does God see me?  Who does God think I am?

How should I see myself?  Who should I think I am?

It is mind over matter.  If I don’t mind, then it don’t matter.

Jeremiah’s Call

Jeremiah 1:4 and the Lord gave me a message. He said, 5  “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”  6  “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”  7“Don’t say that,” the Lord replied, “for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. 8  And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”  9  Then the Lord touched my mouth and said, “See, I have put my words in your mouth! 10  Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. You are to uproot some and tear them down, to destroy and overthrow them. You are to build others up and plant them.”  11  Then the Lord said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?”

Your Call!

You 1:1 God says, “I love you and want you to realize who you are.   I was the one who put you together in the first place.   I love you so much that I came down there to live with you.  While I was there some of you, didn’t like me so you killed me.  I am sorry you didn’t realize who I was.  But, now you can because I rose from the dead.  I want you to become who I created you to be.  Some of you I want to preach.  Some of you I want to become missionaries.   You can be sure of this.  I have a special job for you.  Would you remember who I created you to be, and show others what I have shown you?  Remember I created you to be you and you are not like any other.  You are the only you I made.  Be yourself.  I don’t make any mistakes.  Don’t be afraid of the others.  Hopefully one day they will also see who I am.  Look in the mirror!  What do you see?  I see you and you are beautiful.  I am your Heavenly Father.”
