Best Defense Against Bomb

Dr. Robert Oppenheimer, who supervised the creation of the first atomic bomb, appeared before a Congressional Committee. They inquired of him if there were any defense against the weapon. “Certainly,” the great physicist replied.

“And that is—”  Dr. Oppenheimer looked over the hushed, expectant audience and said softly: “Peace.”  —Selected[1]

Two Pictures

Two painters each painted a picture to illustrate his concept of rest. The first chose for his scene a still, lone lake among far-off mountains. The second threw on his canvas a thundering waterfall, with a fragile birch tree bending over the foam; at the fork of a branch, almost wet with the cataract’s spray, a robin sat on its nest. The first was only Stagnation; the last was Rest. For in rest there are two elements—tranquillity and energy; silence and turbulence; creation and destruction; fearfulness and fearlessness. —Drummond[2]

Scripture Text:  Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

What Has Christ done to pay for the peace that is available to all?

Given to Humanity.  Left his heavenly home to come to earth.  He came to us, so that we could come to Him.  He came.

A Child is born.  Left his heavenly body to take on a bag of flesh called humanity.  The price of peace is sacrifice, suffering, and death.   He was transformed.  The creator became like the creation.

Luke 2:13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

A Son is given.  God gave his one and only Son.  Jesus gave himself to others to be our sacrifice.  The price is humility.  He had to deny himself to become the chosen prince of peace.

Bear the Burden of the government/human race.  Someone has to patch the breach that sin made in the human race.  The burden of the government will be on his shoulders.  He will pay the price and lift the load of sin.  The wages of sin is death, but Jesus paid it all.

The government shall be upon Him.  Take upon himself the responsibility of the entire world, so that people may see and know peace.  He is the Prince of peace who paid the highest price for the sins of the world.

He is called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

He gives the peace that is wonderful.

He gives peace within you.

He gives peace with the creation.

He gives peace with the Creator who is the mighty God.

He gives peace that is everlasting.

He is peace.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Sits on the Throne.  He will rules the hearts and lives of those who recognize Him and love Him.  He is the Prince who is peace.  Does He rule in your heart.  Will you recognize Him and allow him to rule you to bring you peace.  He paid the price and gives it freely.  His judgment and justice will prevail.  He will establish order on the earth.

Have you received your peace?  He gives to all who choose to believe and give their lives to Him.  He has paid the price.
