December 28, 2003am     The Perfect Prescription for a New Year    Colossians 3

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

What’s new?  Looking forward to a new year.  There are some things to remember, as we get ready to launch into the unknown.  We are the people of the Lord.  What’s new?  Here is a new prescription for the New Year.  Take this prescription to be able to reach your maximum potential.

Scripture Text:  Colossians 3:12 As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.  16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.  17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

New people for a new year.  Remember who you are:  Don’t get below your raisin’s.  You are God’s chosen.  You are holy and beloved of the Lord.  You are the church of the one true living God.  You are the church and you are his children.

New clothes for a new year.  Remember what to wear: Put on the right clothes for the occasion.  What to wear this year.  Put on compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.  This is what the well-dressed child of God is to wear through the New Year.  Above all clothe yourselves with love.

New menu for a new year.  Remember what to eat:  You are what you eat.  Eat humble pie.  Eat the word of God.  Let the word of God dwell in you richly.

New song for a new year.  Remember to come together:  harmony is a beautiful song.  We will all sing our part it produces a song that is full and complete.  We don’t have to be all the same but we should be together.  Forgiveness is the key point to being able to stay together and sing together.  Remember to sing. God wants you to be happy because you are a child of the King.  Remember your name is written down.

New thought for a new year.  Remember what to think:  peace, thankfulness,

New attitude for a new year.  Remember whom to thank.  A new attitude for living can become a wonderful part of your life.  The new attitude is gratitude.

New Do for a new year.  Remember what to do.  Do all, word or deed, in the name of the Lord.

New joy for a new year.  Remember to enjoy the peace of the presence.

2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Are you enjoying a new life in Christ?  Will you?  Come to Jesus today and enjoy the peace of God in your new life in the Lord.
