February 8, 2004 pm    Would The Real Preacher Stand Up?     Rom. 10:9-17

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Introduction:  Is it our desire to see people get saved.  We need to consider the importance of winning the lost before it is too late.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I.                     Someone must be sent: Are you sent?  v.15   John 17:18  Jesus was sent by the Father and now we are being sent by Him.  Where are we sent?  We the born again Christians are the sent ones or apostles.  Matthew 28:19-20   Jesus is not physically in the world today, so he sends us.  Sins of omission are the times that we neglect to go as He commanded.  What are some of the ways we could go?  We could us the telephones, letters, emails, letters, words, and actions to show the gospel of the love of God to those we see everyday.  We are to be a light to the world.  Are your batteries dead?

II.                   Some must preach:  Are you a preacher?   v. 11 Will the real preacher please stand up?  Will you stand up and tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love?  What is preaching?  Saying what God wants you to say.  V. 11.   Confess and be not ashamed.    Why are we ashamed to speak of Christ?  Because our life is not a living testimony and we don’t have the power from God.   Our actions speak louder than our words.  Romans 6:22.   Are we still holding on to the sin of the world?

III.                  Someone must hear and see: Have you heard?  Have you seen?  Can you tell others?  v. 14   How can people believe without hearing?  V. 17   If the believers don’t tell them of Jesus they will never know.  If we really believe in Jesus with the heart then we will confess him before others.  Why is it that at one time people were being saved?  Because our Christian life was right with God.  If your life is right others will hear your witness.

IV.               Someone must Believe:  Have you believed?  Can you share you belief with another?  Believe must include receiving the Lord and giving your heart and life to him.  Other wise it is just another fact in your head.   What you believe about the Lord Jesus will change your life.

V.                 Someone must confess with the mouth and someone must call to the Lord:  Have you confessed and have you called?  To be saved you must call on Jesus to save you and he will.  Rev. 3:20 says that Jesus is knocking.  Will you open the door to let Him in?  He won’t force his way in.  You have to invite Him in.  We must be willing to let the Lord do the knocking and allow the people to let the Lord in when they are ready.  Do you trust the Lord/?

VI.               Someone will be saved:  Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart?  Have you been telling others about Jesus?  Has your Christian life dried out?  They apply some of the water of the Holy Spirit today.

Conclusion:  Have really believed in Jesus?  Have you ever confessed him to others? Has the sermon you preached in your life led others to the Lord?
