April 18, 2004pm   Performance Enhancers     II Corinthians 4:3-10

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

How can we enhance our performance?  How can we enhance our lives?  What can we do that would make our lives better?  If you want to enhance your life, then you must accept the challenge of the gospel.   Will you live it?

Scripture Text:  2Cor 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

(1) SEE and show The Gospel!  In weakness Have you seen the light of the gospel?  Have you let the light of the gospel shine in you? See and show the gospel light to be enhanced by it’s power.   (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

(2) HEAR and Tell the Gospel!  In a simple proclamation of the gospel.  Have you heard and told the story of Jesus and His love?   (Romans 1:16).   For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

(3) BELIEVE and pray in the Gospel!   (Ephesians 3:20-21).  20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

(4) EXPERIENCE and Live the Gospel!  In Salvation:  Have you experienced the power of the Lord in your life?  Have you lived the gospel?  Are your faith and your life working together?  Faith without works is like screen doors on a submarine.

1Cor 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

 (5) ACCOMPLISH and Finish the Gospel!  In Resurrection:  Come alive unto the Lord and give your life to Him.  He is the treasure in the clay jar.   ( I Cor.6:14 14  And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
