June 6, 2004am       Going Deeper With God.       Romans 11:33-36

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Introduction:  As Christians we need to continually go deeper with God into the depth of His knowledge and wisdom.  Look to Him from the Human side.  His ways are far to deep for Human minds. In our search we must remember:

Scripture Text:  Romans 11:33  Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" 35 "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

I.   Remember who He is:  (v. 34)  Who can advise the self existent, eternal one.  We can’t shape or mold God into some predetermined idea.  Approach God with respect and reverence.  Pray that God would reveal Himself to us.

II.  Remember What He’s done.

1.      All Things are of Him.  Life, creation.  (Col. 1:15-17)  All things consist held together eternal life, salvation of Jesus Christ.

2.      All Things are through Him.  Through His power all things come to exist.

What areas do we need to go deeper in?  V 33 – The depths of God’s riches are for those who trust Him with their soul.

1.      How deep is our love for God?  How deep is His love for you?  Back to our first love.  Could you ever love Him enough?  Love is equal to sacrifice.

2.  How deep is our faith in God?   Heb. 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please God. God’s power and promises can carry us.  Have you enough faith to trust God with your life?  Trust Him through the ups and downs through the good times and the bad times.

3.   How deep is our dependence on God?  Do we only depend in bad times or will we trust Him at all times?  When things are out of your control then how do you feel about God?  We need to depend on God.

4.      How deep is our obedience to God?  Micah 6:8 God has showed these things to us are we deep in obedience to do justly, to love mercy, to walk humbly we know the difference.  Why won’t we be obedient?

5.  How deep is our commitment to God?  Have we as God’s people committed our lives to Him?   How far have we gone to fulfill the responsibilities of God?

6.      How deep have we gone in fellowship with God?   This is the icing on the cake.  It is the sweet fellowship with God and peace that we receive from the Lord.

7.      How to go deeper?  Become humble and dependent as a child on a parent.  Give yourself to Him.  Confess your sin and repent.  Turn to God and give yourself to Him.  Remember Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
