October 8, 2005 A Revival of Vision Proverbs 29:18
By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Mountain Baptist Church
Would you dare to dream?
The shaft of the arrow of time is the present. It is the present that holds the past (fletching) together with the future (arrowhead). It is the present that is a gift from God. That’s why it is called the present. This is the time that we have to go with the Lord from the past into the future. What does the future hold? Let’s see. Where do you want to go to today and tomorrow?
How is your vision? When I was 27 years old I realized that I couldn’t see long distances. After going to the optometrist, I was fitted with my very first pair of glasses. I could see. The not so obvious became visible again. Can you see what lies ahead? Do you want to see what lies ahead? Which way will you go? If you will see as the Lord sees the future then we have our vision restored. I was amazed at what I missed.
It is a mistake to be always turning back to recover the past. The law for Christian living is not backward, but forward; not for experiences that lie behind, but for doing the will of God, which is always ahead and beckoning us to follow. Leave the things that are behind, and reach forward to those that are before, for on each new height to which we attain, there are the appropriate joys that befit the new experience. Don't fret because life's joys are fled. There are more in front. Look up, press forward, the best is yet to be!

Scripture Text: Prov 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
A vision is a revelation from God. This revelation from the Lord reveals who God is. It reveals how the Lord sees us. It reveals where we are in God’s eyes. It reveals where we are going in the real world. God who is above all, sees all, and knows all. He is the one whom can show us who we really are.
Why do the people perish who have no vision or revelation? Without the revealing of God to people the people are like those who had no law. They did not know what way to go or what to do. They have no help and no hope. They have no Savior. They need a redeemer to save them from sin.
A vision of where we have been. Three aspects of vision we need to look at. As the human race, as the church, and as an individual believer, we need to look at and remember where we have been. How does the Lord see where we have been?
A vision of where we are. Have we completed the
journey or is there more? Are we
willing to take a risk and go where no one has gone before? How does the Lord see where we are?
A vision of where we are going? Have we predetermined our future by refusing to see the possibilities? Are we going to change to meet the new challenges of the day? Are we going to remain committed to the task and the mission? How can we live our lives every day, so that others can see Christ living in us?
A vision of Where is God going? Where are we going? Are we willing to go with the Lord into the future or do we feel that we have already gone as far as we will go.
A vision of what is God doing? What are we doing? What are we willing to do? Are we willing to ask?
A vision of Who does God want to save? Who do we want to reach?
A vision of what does God need to reach out to seek and to save the lost? He needs nothing, but He wants us to go with Him. He wants to work through us.
If we had a vision would we be obedient to it? Then you may have one. We must be willing to follow the heavenly vision before God is going to grant that which we seek.
A vision of How does God want us to reach the lost. How can I reach the lost? How can we as a church reach the lost and fulfill God’s mission? Let’s pray for a vision from God.
See God’s vision for you.
See God’s vision for your family.
See God’s vision for your church.
See God’s vision for your community.
See God’s vision for your country and world.
Come for a vision revision. Come to see what God can see for you.
