March 19, 2006am      More Valuable than Gold!       Psalm 19:1-14

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Here is a riddle for you.  Come to church this Sunday morning for the answer.   If you know what it is, email me with the answer.

"What is it that gives you energy and makes your life worth living?  What is it that will make you want to get up on Monday morning?  What is it that will give you wisdom and understanding?  What is it that will make you rejoice and be glad?  What is that will help you to see well?  What is it that lasts forever?  What is it that is more valuable than gold?  What is it that is sweeter than honey?  What is it that if you follow it will bring you great reward?  What is it?

Here are some more clues:  It is perfect, sure, right, clear, and endures forever?  What is it?  Most all of us have it?  But not many of us take it?  What is it? "

Scripture Text:  19:1 The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.  2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.  3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard;  4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun,  5 which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.  6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and nothing is hid from its heat.  7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple;  8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eyes;  9 the fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb.11 Moreover by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.12 But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults. 13 Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

1.      God is speaking.  Can you hear?   Are you trying to hear?

2.      See the glory of God.

3.      Hear his voice …  He speaks day to day.  Night to night declares knowledge.  Think about it.  No words just a message from the creator to the creation.   In the heavens has set a tent for the sun.  Consider the sun its coming and going.  This is the glory of God.

4.      The Law of God is perfect.  It revives the soul.

5.      The decrees of the Lord are sure.  They make the simple wise.

6.      The precepts of the Lord are right.  They make the heart rejoice.

7.      The commandment of the Lord is clear.  They enlighten the eyes.

8.      The fear of the Lord is pure.  It endures forever.

9.      The ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous.  His word is more to be desired than gold.  They are sweeter than honey.  We are warned and in keeping them is great reward.

10. What do you believe?

GODISNOWHERE!

What do you believe that this says?  If God is here then where are you in your relationship with the Lord?

You have seen his glory.

You have heard his word.

You believe that He is here and He is speaking to you.

The invitation:

If He is now here, then what does that mean to you?

Would you say that with me?

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, of Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
