October 8, 2006pm   God is thinking about you!   Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:5-12

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

What kind of family do we have?   What is it like to become apart of this family?  I was a coal miner’s son.  I lived in an old coal camp and played on the streets and in the woods while I was growing up.  It was a great place to live and grow up.

Hebrews 1:1 (NIV) In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

1.      God was thinking of you when he spoke to you through the prophets and others.

2.      God was thinking of you when he sent His only begotten Son, Jesus for you.

3.      God was thinking of you when he appointed the Son the heir of all things and through whom he made the universe.

4.      God was thinking of you when Jesus came who is the exact representation of God.

5.      God was thinking of you when he provided purification for sins.

6.      God was thinking of you when he gave Jesus the name that is above all names.

7.      God was thinking of you when He made one of us the right hand man.

Hebrews 2:5 (NIV) It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified: "What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 7 You made him a little {[7] Or him for a little while; also in verse 9} lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor 8 and put everything under his feet." {[8] Psalm 8:4-6} In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. 11 Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. 12 He says, "I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises." {[12] Psalm 22:22}

1.  God was thinking of you when He made you apart of his plan to bring the world under humans.

2.      God was thinking of you.  Why?  Because you are you and He created you.

3.      God was thinking of you when he made Jesus a little lower than the angels.

4.      God was thinking of you when he crowned Jesus with honor and glory.

5.      God was thinking of you when Jesus tasted death for everyone.

6.      God was thinking of you when Jesus was made perfect through suffering for us.

7.      God was thinking of you when he made you of the same family.

8.      God was thinking of you when He called you his brother or sister.

9.      God was thinking of you when He called out your name to his brothers in the congregation.

10.  God was thinking of you.  Were you thinking of Him?   Have you thought of what it means to be apart of the family of God and a member of the home called God’s people?
