Tsunamis, earth quakes, hurricanes, floods, disasters, wars, terrorism, rumors of war, nations will be in anguish, perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Does this sound like the Bible or our daily newspaper? Could it be that the coming of the Lord is sooner than we think?
Folks will be going door to door to tell you that this is the Christ or that is Jesus. Things will be changing at an ever increasing rate. That is today. This is the time. He could come anytime.
Scripture Text:
Luke 21: 25 “There
will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in
anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26
Men will faint from terror, apprehensive
of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27 At
that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great
glory. 28 When
these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your
redemption is drawing near.” 29
He told them this parable: “Look at the
fig tree and all the trees. 30 When
they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. 31 Even
so, when you see these things happening, you know that the
The past, present, future tense of prophecy is seen in this passage spoken by the master of all prophecy. Jesus shows what will be the signs of the Second Coming and what should we do in light of that certain coming event.
Here are some of the
signs:
1. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, disasters, and famines are common place news items in today’s papers.
2.
The Fig Tree is beginning to sprout roots.
This is the nation of
3. When the fig tree and the trees begin to leaf out you know that it will happen. Jesus will come again just as sure as summer will come again.
4.
Christians have become increasingly persecuted, although it is
hard to hear about it in the papers. Christians

What does the Lord tell us to do in view of his warnings of the coming of turbulent times in the world? And knowing that the Lord will come again when the time is right and all of the pieces of God’s Plan have fallen into place. The question is when?
A.
Stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is drawing
near.”
B. 34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. Don’t allow the ways of the world to take your attention away from the coming sure event.
C.
36 Be
always on the watch. Watch by
continuing to serve the Lord and making sure that you have done all you can do.
Prepare to launch.
D.
Stand on the launch pad of life.
The launch pad is a giant piece of reinforced concrete designed to
provide a suitable place for the space vehicle to take off.
Jesus and our faith in him is our launch pad.
Stand firm and look up. Stay
in him and in his word and in prayer.
E.
Pray that you may be
able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to
stand before the Son of Man.”[2]
Are you ready to drink the cup that the Lord drank? It is a cup of blessing and of sacrifice... The road to Glory is called Sacrifice in the name of the One who has already walked that road on our behalf. And now it is our turn to walk that road in behalf of others.
Will you drink his cup today? Will you follow the Lord? He never said it would be easy. But that he said it would be worth your time.
Prepare to launch. Are you? Are your friends, family, and neighbors? Come to the Lord and pray that you are ready and that you will be able to escape.
