November 4, 2007am   Love Lifted Me!    Psalm 32

Communion

By Ronald E. George Jr.  at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Let us commune with the Lord today.  He is our life.  He is our song.  He is our joy.  He love has lifted us high above the world and the woes therein.

Psalm 32:  1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”— and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah 6 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. 10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. 11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart![1]

Are you happy?  Are your sins forgiven?  Are your sins covered?  Does your

Are your sins forgiven?  Are your sins covered?  Are your debts paid?  Are your trespasses forgotten?  Why does the Lord count your sins against you?   Because they aren’t forgiven and forgotten.  How far is the East from the West?

The Unforgiven?

  1. Keep silent and don’t ask for forgiveness.  They don’t come to the Lord.

  1. Their unforgiveness wastes their bones.  Sin is a sickness and a disease that robs you of what you could have in the Lord.

  1. God’s hand is heavy upon you as you feel the weight of your sin.

  1. Your strength of life is gone.  As the summer dries up the water from the land your strength is dried up by the weight of your sin.

The Forgiven:

  1. They acknowledge their sin to the Lord.

  1. They don’t cover up their sin.  They confess their sin to the Lord.

  1. God forgives the guilt of their sin.

  1. The forgiven who are the godly pray to the Lord while he may be found.  They may come a time when the Lord won’t be found.

  1. The forgiven run to the Lord to hide from the terrible power and presence of sin that consumes us like a fire burns the dried weeds on the desert. The forgiven want the Lord in their life.

  1. The forgiven sing their songs of deliverance.

The God of Forgiveness.  He is the Love that Lifted you.  Here is what He says to you.

  1. He will instruct and teach you.  God cares for you.  He will show you the way.

  1. He will counsel you and watch over you.  He is your heavenly Father who loves you.

  1. Don’t be stubborn.  Don’t be like the mule or the horse who have no understanding must be controlled by a bit.

  1. He wants you to come to Him.  He wants you to respond to his love.  Don’t wait until the pressures of the result of sin to force you to come to him.  Many are the woes of the wicked.  Come now.  Come today.  Don’t wait.

  1. He wants to surround you with his unfailing love.  He wants to lift you above the destruction of sin.  His love will lift you.

  1. He wants you to rejoice in the Lord all you who are righteous.  Sing all you who are trying to follow the Lord.  You aren’t perfect, but you are forgiven and you are trying.

 Come to the Lord today.
