December 2, 2007am  Walking In the Light   Isaiah 2

By Ronald E. George Jr.  at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Christmas is about the lights.  People who live in the dark need a light.  The world is full of darkness but the light of the world began to shine and then finally the break of day came when the Lord was born in Bethlehem .  He is the light of the world.  God chose people to see it, tell it, and then to live so that the world may know that the Lord came and that he is coming again.

Isaiah 2     This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem : 2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion , the word of the Lord from Jerusalem . 4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 5 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.[1]

A.  They saw the shining Light of the world.

  1. Isaiah saw the light of the coming city of God which is the coming of God to earth.  Who am I?   Who am I to see the light and have the privilege to walk in it?

  1. The Shepherds saw the light and they went to see the baby born in a manger.

  1. The Wise men saw the light and they came to worship the King of kings.

  1. Mary saw the light and she gave herself to God.

  1. Joseph saw the light and he was willing to take Mary to be his wife.

B.  The light is shining again.  How do you walk in the light?

Have you seen the light?  Have you walked in the light?  Jesus came and lived the life in our place.  He is the light of the world.

  1. Recognize the coming of the Light of the world.

  1. Recognize the need for the Lord in your life and world.

  1. Believe in and Follow the teaching and direction of the Lord in our life.

  1. Depend of the Lord to right the wrongs of the world.
  2. Understand that you are the who am I of the song.  Just as Isaiah, the shepherds, wise men, Mary, and Joseph were chosen then so are you.

  1. Will you receive the Lord and His communion?

  1. Will you walk in the light?

Have you walked in the light of Hope for the future?  Have you listened to his teaching?  You have heard, but have you listened?  Have you heard that he will judge the nations and their will be no more war?

Who I am by Casting Crowns

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You're

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours
